Starbucks Coffee is set to land at Myrtle Beach International Airport (MYR), bringing a whole new level of energy to traveler options. Global restaurateur HMSHost, with partner J.Q. Enterprises, Inc., was awarded a 5-year contract valued at $14 million to operate two new concessions spaces at MYR, including Starbucks Coffee and The Grand Strand Bar. HMSHost’s new MYR locations are expected to arrive in spring 2020. The upcoming openings mark HMSHost’s entry into delivering food and beverage choices in South Carolina.
“We are thrilled to partner with Myrtle Beach International Airport for the first time and look forward to providing an excellent food and drink experience for travelers flying in and out of the beloved Grand Strand area,” says HMSHost vice president of Business Development Bryan Loden. “The upcoming Starbucks and The Grand Strand Bar mark the perfect balance of choice for Myrtle Beach visitors to recharge before their flight, whether they’ve just come from a week at the beach or spent quality time on the links.”
“Horry County Department of Airports is thrilled to welcome Starbucks and The Grand Strand Bar to its line-up of incredible food and beverage offerings available at the Myrtle Beach International Airport,” says Scott Van Moppes, director of Airports for Horry County. “In an airport environment, it is important to provide a variety of options to the traveling public, which includes a mix of international, national and local concepts. It is our goal to exceed our passengers’ expectations and with the addition of these two new concepts it is our hope that the MYR experience will be more memorable than ever before.”
This will be the airport’s first Starbucks store, bringing travelers its signature coffee and beverages, baked goods, sandwiches, and snacks. Starbucks is the global leader in gourmet coffee, providing what many travelers consider an indispensable choice for airports.
HMSHost and the Horry County Department of Airports are collaborating on the development of a beer-forward bar concept to be called The Grand Strand Bar. The new bar will feature a selection of South Carolina brews along with leading national beers. The bar will also include an all-day menu featuring light breakfast items, snacks, and sandwiches for travelers to enjoy with a beverage or take away for their flight.
