A Subway-branded toy set called the Deluxe Subway Sandwich Artist Play Set will be available at Toys “R” Us starting September 1, 2004.
The 77-piece set, marketed under the “Just Like Home” brand name and exclusive to Toys “R” Us, will have a suggested retail price of $14.99. This item marks the Subway brand’s first entry into retail merchandising.
Two other sets of Subway Sandwich Artist Activity Sets — a 66-piece set with a retail price of $9.99 and a 35-piece set with a Subway-branded backpack with a retail price of $8.99 — will reach popular toy and department stores in the spring of 2005, according to a statement.
The contents of the initial set include: plastic submarine sandwich and deli rolls; plastic sandwich ingredients and condiments; salad ingredients; pieces of fruit; bottled water; plastic drinking cups; a Subway sandwich wrapper; juice container; potato crisps; and more.
The toys were created under an exclusive licensing agreement between Subway restaurants and The Beanstalk Group, a trademark licensing agency.
The licensing program will eventually include food products, with branded meats, cheeses, sauces, condiments, and salad dressings, which will be available at grocery stores nationwide.
