At this summer’s Major League Baseball(R) (MLB) All-Star Game(R), a fly ball heading to the gap in left center field may be worth some beaucoup dinero. Taco Bell(R), the official Quick Service Restaurant of MLB, today announced a promotios that will offer one lucky fan the chance to take the field on July 11th at Pittsburgh’s PNC Park before the 77th MLB All-Star Game with a chance to win one million dollars.

Taco Bell’s Swing for a Million promotion will be held during the All-Star Game pre-game ceremonies with one contestant receiving five attempts to swing away from a tee at home plate and hit one of three targets in the outfield within 30 seconds. If one well placed line drive hits any of the targets on the fly, the contestant becomes an instant millionaire. Fans are encouraged to enter for a chance-to-win at participating Taco Bell restaurants throughout the Pittsburgh area from Thursday, May 25, 2006 through Thursday, June 22, 2006.

The sweepstakes winner will win one trip for two to the 2006 Major League Baseball Mid Summer Classic(R) on July 11, 2006 in Pittsburgh, PA, which includes airfare, accommodations, (2) tickets to the 2006 MLB All-Star Game (ARV $1500), and the chance to attempt the Swing for a Million at the All-Star Game.

The Swing for a Million is another in a long line of “Think Outside the Bun” promotions Taco Bell has conducted through their partnership with MLB. During previous All-Star Games, Taco Bell held the Rapid Fire contest where in 2004, Houston resident Tom Grey proved to America that he could indeed “throw heat” as he successfully threw five baseballs though a target in 30 seconds, walking away an instant millionaire. Taco Bell also placed a “Free Taco” target during the 2004 World Series games in St. Louis.

The 2006 MLB All-Star Game will be broadcast nationally and internationally to more than 220 countries, and over the course of the five days more than 100 million fans are expected to watch or listen to MLB All-Star Week events on TV, radio and the Internet. Taco Bell will have an extended presence in Pittsburgh participating in MLB FanFest and returning as the title sponsor of Taco Bell All-Star Sunday on July 9th. The day’s events at PNC Park will include the XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game, a game between top U.S. and international minor league prospects, as well as the Taco Bell All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game, in which MLB legends are teamed with celebrities from TV, film, and music in a competition.
