Just when you think the California governors race couldn’t get any more unusual, Taco Bell Corp. throws its tacos into the race declaring, “Who says you can’t buy votes?”

With 135 candidates hungry to run the struggling state, California Taco Bells will be conducting the Taco Poll to track the progress of the election. Californians of all ages are urged to “put their money where their mouth is” by purchasing menu items tied to candidates. A soft chicken taco will count as a vote against recalling Governor Gray Davis, a crunchy beef taco counts as a vote for the Governator, Arnold Schwartzenegger, and a Grilled Stuft Burrito will count towards any other candidate.

Taco Poll results will be tallied from more than 1,000 participating California restaurants and released weekly on every Tuesday until the official election.
