Taco John’s International Inc. (Taco John’s), the popular quick-service Mexican restaurant, announced the upcoming re-opening of its original Rapid City location, which was and will still be located at 1710 Cambell St. The new location is open to the public starting October 26.

The Cambell Street location was the first franchisee-owned location of the Taco John’s brand. The building itself began as a trailer and did not include a dining room or a drive-thru. The original owner, Dick Hamilton, added on to the building many times in the 50 years that he owned and operated the location. The new building will be built next door to the original location.  

“This will allow us to continue to provide the best possible customer experience for the next 50 years,” says Lisa Williams, general manager at the location.  

To celebrate the new location, guests can purchase 99-cent Crispy Beef Tacos for a week from Thursday, Oct. 26 through Wednesday, Nov. 1. There will also be a ribbon-cutting on Thursday, Oct. 26.

Pentex Restaurant Group owns and operates the new Rapid City location. Pentex is a partnership that originated in the state of South Dakota, with ties to the Rapid City community. The group has owned and operated multiple Taco John’s locations for over 50 years. Pentex CEO, Brett Itterman, recognizes the importance of maintaining the Taco John’s legacy established in Rapid City.

The dining room and the drive-thru will be open Sundays – Thursdays from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 6 a.m. to 12 a.m. Taco John’s offers mobile ordering and delivery through the Taco John’s App. App users receive exclusive offers and free food upon signing up.
