Tijuana Flats Tex-Mex restaurants closed 2015 with strong financial results and poised for additional growth in 2016. Same store sales for restaurants opened at least 19 months showed an increase of 2 percent, an increase in guest traffic of 1.52 percent, and an overall sales increase of 8.92 percent. No price increases were taken on the menu. Significant sales increases were experienced with online ordering and catering, both ending with positive double-digit sales growth. Twelve new locations were opened ending the year with a total unit count of 115.

“I am proud of what our team has accomplished this year and know that we will continue to provide the next-level service and fresh food that our guests expect from us," says CEO Brad Kaemmer.

Tijuana Flats continues to be irreverent and most relevant among Millennials with promotions such as the “Free Hemp” campaign providing the high in omega-3 and protein hemp tortilla option; Valentine’s Day celebrating Singles; and Cinco Daze. Additionally, free meals were provided to teachers and veterans for the brand’s annual Teacher Hero Day and Veterans Day. Three cause-related marketing campaigns occurred raising $225,000 to benefit the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, Building Homes for Heroes, and No Kid Hungry.

Tijuana Flats maintains a strong culture of commitment to the communities where we live and work. In 2015, through the company’s Tijuana Flats “Just In Queso” Foundation, team members volunteered more than 1,200 hours with organizations such as Miracle League, Habitat for Humanity, food pantries, and more. Over $220,000 was donated to local community organizations impacting children and those in need of homes. Since the foundation was established in 2007, nearly $3 million has been distributed to those in need.

At Tijuana Flats, our team members continue to be the top priority building on an established, unique culture of service. Five educational scholarships were distributed to outstanding student team members totaling $12,500. These students work hard both in the classroom and at their respective Tijuana Flats locations.
