Tijuana Flats Delivers Support to Soldiers

Tijuana Flats and its 501c3 charitable organization, the Just in Queso Foundation, have implemented a care-package program aiming to provide basic essentials to active on-duty military.

Delivered on a monthly basis, these care packages will be specifically sent to platoons deployed in combat zones.

“In an effort to include employee participation, each package will include a personal letter of gratification from a participating Tijuana Flats employee,” says Just in Queso president Dede Franklin.

Alongside these letters, each package will carry basic items such as peanut butter, tuna, crackers, and wet wipes, as well as Tijuana Flats’ famous “Smack My Ass” hot sauces or Just In Queso’s new “Sauce that Saves,” a military-inspired Tijuana Flats T-shirt, various toiletries, and phone cards.

To date, Tijuna Flats has mailed 300 care packages totaling $6,714 in value to soldiers overseas, both through a direct partnership with the Currahee Brigade stationed in Afghanistan and by way of the Greater Jacksonville USO.

Just In Queso will begin partnering with more local USO branches, as well as other brigades stationed in combat zones, to continue sending packages through the end of the year.

This care-package program was developed and implemented by Aaron Waldron, one of the first participants in the Chester’s Working Warriors Fellowship program, Tijuana Flats’ effort to educate and teach basic business skills to military veterans in order to prepare them for an entry-level professional position.
