Leading fast-casual pizza brand Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint is bringing its chef-driven, customized pizza to Huntsville-Madison, Alabama, and the surrounding communities. The Atlanta-based build-your-own pizza concept will open in its first restaurant in early 2016 on Highway 72 in Madison, Alabama with plans to open a total of three restaurants in the next four years. The metro Huntsville, Alabama, restaurants are being developed by franchisees John Allen Howard, Jr., a commercial real estate attorney from his wife Joy McAfee Howard, an estate planning attorney. John and Joy will partner with another investor (and operating partner) to be named at a later date.

The Howards chose North Alabama for its vibrant community and growing economy.

“Huntsville, Madison, Decatur, Athens, and Cullman all have booming economies, are great places to live and work, and are fantastic markets for an Uncle Maddio’s Pizza Joint,” says John Howard, Uncle Maddio’s franchisee. “I think the demand for delicious, customized pizza with quality ingredients is just what these residents are missing, and I look forward to filling that gap in the dining scene.”

Alabama residents have already come to know Uncle Maddio’s and have enjoyed its menu at the Auburn and Daphne, Alabama, locations. The restaurant has also announced plans to open in Birmingham, Alabama, later this year.

“I’m confident our made-from-scratch pizza will be a big hit in Huntsville and the surrounding communities,” says Matt Andrew, CEO of Uncle Maddio’s. “Our restaurants are a gathering place for friends, families, and coworkers, and we are excited to contribute our style of pizza to the metro Huntsville community.”

Since launching its aggressive growth plan in 2008, Uncle Maddio's has signed franchise agreements with 55 different entities in 18 states. Many of Uncle Maddio's franchisees have previous multiunit experience with other quality concepts including Jimmy John's, Firehouse Subs, and Five Guys. Uncle Maddio's is on track to have 300 restaurants open in five years with 1,000 units in development and is opening units every 10 days.

Uncle Maddio's offers premium ingredients and more customization than any other fast-casual pizza chain. Guests choose from one of three crusts, including a gluten-free option, and 48 toppings including six sauces, 27 vegetables, and 15 meats. More than 30 menu items are made fresh daily in-house. For those with dietary restrictions, Uncle Maddio's serves up a huge selection of healthful options such as whole-wheat and gluten-free crusts, hormone-free chicken, fresh local vegetables, Daiya vegan cheese, and organic greens. Create-your-own signature salads and toasted Panini sandwiches round out the Italian-style menu. The restaurant also offers a selection of craft beers and wine.
