Due to popular demand, the greater Mobile, Alabama, area is about to enjoy its second fast casual Uncle Maddio's Pizza restaurant. The Atlanta-based create-your-own pizza restaurant will formally open in West Mobile on Friday, October 9 at 7765 Airport Boulevard, Suite 120, near the intersection of Airport Boulevard and Schillinger Road. On Saturday, October 10, there will be a free 9-inch, three-topping pizza for all guests from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., as well as live music that night with a performance from 2014 “The Voice” contestant and Mobile area resident Jordy Searcy.
For those who wish to enjoy a free 9-inch, three-topping Uncle Maddio’s pizza on October 9, visit facebook.com/unclemaddioswestwoodplaza. Also in conjunction with the new location opening, kids will dine free from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 11 (with the purchase of an adult entrée; one for one), as they enjoy Mobile area balloon-tying master and magician, Dr. Gee.
“The Mobile community loves pizza and we wanted to make it more convenient for West Mobile diners to enjoy our fresh, build-your-own pizza,” says Seth Hargett, franchisee and president of JUMP Restaurant Management. “As a former chef, I know good food when I taste it, and Uncle Maddio’s pizza is the best around.”
Hargett is a veteran restaurateur. Prior to moving into restaurant development and operations, he honed his culinary skills in the kitchens of the Brennan family, Emeril Lagasse, and Gerard Maras before moving on to the restaurant chef role at Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa in Point Clear, Alabama, and an AAA four-diamond resort.
The new West Mobile restaurant joins the area’s first Uncle Maddio’s restaurant, which opened last year in Daphne, also managed by JUMP. “We continue to be blown away by the positive reaction of Mobile residents to our food,” says Matt Andrew, CEO of Uncle Maddio’s Pizza. “We knew immediately that we would need to expand to meet the demand of our guests, and the West Mobile location is the perfect spot for us to do that.”
JUMP Restaurant Management, a subsidiary of Jubilee Restaurant Group, announced earlier this year that it will develop 13 Uncle Maddio’s restaurants across the South, including communities in New Orleans, Baton Rouge and Lafayette, Louisiana; Greater Memphis, Tennessee; and Southaven and Olive Branch, Mississippi. Jubilee Restaurant Group also operates ten Five Guys Burgers and Fries locations with development rights to 14 more in five states. Investors include a former Five Guys Chief Development Officer, Greg DeCelle, and Dan Harlin of Mobile.
Since launching its impressive growth plan in 2008, Uncle Maddio's has completed franchise agreements with 55 different entities in 18 states. Many of Uncle Maddio's franchisees have previous multiunit experience with Firehouse Subs, McDonald’s, Burger King, Papa John's, Domino's, and Five Guys. Uncle Maddio's is on track to have 300 restaurants open in five years with 1,000 units in development.
