United Capital Business Lending announced that James L. Hogan joined the Hunt Valley, Maryland–based business lender as senior vice president and credit officer. His duties include loan policy and underwriting, risk management and credit quality, regulatory compliance, internal audits, collections and recoveries, and supervising the daily operations of the company’s credit department.

Hogan brings to United Capital substantial experience acquired through key credit positions with financial institutions across the country. His previous employers include Platinum Community Bank in Ocala, Florida; ColonialBancGroup in Montgomery, Alabama; F&M Bancorp in Frederick, Maryland; Equitable Bank and Maryland National Bank in Baltimore; and Mellon Bank in Philadelphia.

Hogan graduated from Wake Forest University with a Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Economics and earned a Master of Arts in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
