On May 13, VERTS Mediterranean Grill will be giving away free hummus and chips to guests at all 28 locations from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. in honor of International Hummus Day.
The offer will automatically appear in the VERTS Rewards app on Saturday, May 13. Guests simply include hummus and chips in their order on this day and then scan the offer in the app at checkout to get it for free.
International Hummus Day started in 2012 as a way to spread peace in war torn areas such as the Middle East.
The popularity of hummus continues to spread across the country. According to the USA Dry Pea & Lentil Council, U.S. grocery sales of the savory dip are at $725 million and an estimated 25 percent of American homes stock hummus in the fridge.
“We’re excited to see the popularity of hummus grow,” says VERTS co-founder and co-CEO Michael Heyne. “Our house-made hummus has been a favorite among guests and pairs well with the array of mouth-watering Mediterranean toppings we offer at VERTS. We like to think that hummus is the new guac, and we don’t charge for it.”
In addition to free hummus and chips, guests can enter into a social media contest held that day by taking a photo of their meal and tagging it #VertsHummusDay on Instagram.
