Viên, the popular Southeast Asian eatery serving healthy and delicious hawker-inspired street fare, opened a second location in New York City’s bustling Midtown (first location is in TriBeCa.) In celebration, Viên will offer $5 bowls all day long Wednesday, 8/29.

With a focus on fresh ingredients and authentic tastes, Viên’s founder Mark Sy aims to share the vibrant colors and exotic flavors of the region that he grew up enjoying with neighboring communities. Landing in Midtown, evolving into a much-desired neighborhood for restaurateurs looking to tap into a discerning lunch crowd who crave fresh and distinctive cuisines, this popular lunch and dinner destination will cater seamlessly to the many surrounding businesses, hotels, and residents.

Encouraging creativity, Viên begins with a noodle, rice or seasonal salad base and can be elevated with a number of flavorful mains such as vegan Seared Turmeric Tofu, Grilled Ginger Beef, Lemongrass Chicken and more. Guests are then free to embellish bowls with garnishes such as Crispy Shallots, Thai Bird’s Eye Chilis, Avocado Smash and Fresh Herbs, to name a few. Bowls are completed with a choice of tantalizing sauces that may include Vietnamese Lime, Sweet Chili or Thai Peanut. Viên will also feature a number of delicious sides such as fresh Chicken or Tofu Summer Rolls and Papaya Slaw, in addition to beverages and sweets such as the vegan Pandan Basil-Seed Tapioca.

Born in Vancouver, B.C. and raised in Manila and Hong Kong, Mark Sy founded Viên in 2013, aiming to bring the Southeast Asian flavors he was surrounded by both growing up as well as traveling as an adult. Sy created Viên to be guided by the following key principles: food should be healthy and delicious, every dish should be balanced and use only the highest-quality ingredients, customers and neighbors should be respected, and sustainable relationships with the local food community and purveyors should be cultivated. Healthy, balanced, accessible, and created with love, Viên will satisfy the Midtown community from Monday – Friday, 11a.m. – 9 p.m. and Saturday, 11a.m. – 5 p.m.
