Wahoo’s Fish Taco, a community mainstay and worldwide pop culture phenomenon since 1988, today announced the opening of its new franchise location at California State University, Bakersfield.

Owned and operated by franchise partner Aramark, the new restaurant will offer all of Wahoo’s distinctive menu items such as the Maui Bowl, Banzai Burrito, and the original fish taco. The company’s third college location further propels Wahoo’s franchise new expansion program.

“Bringing Wahoo’s onto the Bakersfield campus is an exciting move,” says Wing Lam, co-founder of Wahoo’s. “In addition, we are happy to work with Aramark once again, our franchise partner at the successful UC Irvine restaurant. We are stoked to be working together to bring Wahoo’s healthy, yet affordable food to college students.”

With a new Wahoo’s on location at CSUB, students and faculty have access to healthy alternatives. As the second Aramark franchise restaurant to open on a college campus, the partnership with Wahoo’s and Aramark should lead to more colleges opening new Wahoo’s restaurants. In addition, the new restaurant helps Wahoo’s continue the success of its recently launched franchise expansion program.

Wahoo’s Fish Taco is currently seeking additional franchise partners throughout the U.S. In choosing future franchisees, Wahoo’s will consider individuals who have a genuine enthusiasm for the brand, adequate restaurant and/or business experience and sufficient funding. Wahoo’s will conduct extensive training for all franchises, both in the classroom and on-site, and will follow up regularly to offer personalized support. Franchisees will also benefit from catering opportunities as well as a co-op marketing program.
