Wendy’s has launched its new limited-time Summer Berry Chicken Salad, a more than two-year effort to deliver on its commitment of serving the freshest, quality ingredients to its customers.
“At Wendy’s, fresh is not just a word but a personal challenge to which we are dedicated,” says Carl Loredo, VP of Wendy’s brand marketing. “After years of planning and hard work, we are proud to serve fresh blackberries at the peak of their season, something no other national [quick-service restaurant] is able to deliver, and continue to pioneer for quality and freshness in the food industry. Our new Summer Berry Chicken Salad is an incredible example of how Wendy’s allows customers to enjoy ingredients fresh from the farm, literally.”
Wendy’s set out on a mission to build on Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas’ promise that “Quality is Our Recipe” by being the first national quick-service restaurant to bring fresh blackberries to consumers. Wendy’s combed through a multitude of qualified blackberry growers, planning for more than two years to bring its customers a fresh, summer salad made just for them.
In addition to the berries, Wendy’s delivers fresh shipments of produce, like heads of romaine and iceberg lettuce, to each restaurant throughout the week to ensure freshness. The commitment to quality extends to other Wendy’s salad ingredients, including freshly grilled chicken breasts that are cooked in-house and placed warm on every salad ordered.
With fresh strawberries and blackberries, fresh-cut lettuce, Feta cheese, crunchy red apple chips, grilled chicken breast, and a light blackberry vinaigrette, the fully-dressed, full-sized entrée salad is 390 calories at a price of $6.79, or $4.79 for a half-sized salad.
