Whataburger has promoted executive team member Joe Shannon to vice president, chief information officer for Whatabrands.

Shannon joined Whataburger in 2014 as the IT group director, CIO and spent the last two years developing and overseeing the implementation of the company’s technology roadmap. He is responsible for driving technology strategy and innovation, digital innovation, and operation, including data management and analytics, as well as managing a technology team of more than 100 employees. He has more than 26 years of experience in various technology management roles in Austin and San Antonio as well as experience as a network consultant during the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

The company is now headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, with more than 790 locations in 10 states with sales of more than $2 billion annually.
