At 3 p.m. Tuesday, Whataburger will launch its new, free mobile app, designed to provide customers added benefits and convenience each time they grab their favorite menu items at Whataburger.

Most notably, the app gives customers one free reward for every five visits to a Whataburger restaurant. Rewards include a free Honey Butter Chicken Biscuit, any variation of a Taquito with Cheese—both served during late-night and breakfast hours from 11 p.m. to 11 a.m.—a medium order of French Fries, Cinnamon Roll or any flavor of a small, 16-ounce Shake. Users can earn rewards whether paying with cash, card or mobile payment by scanning the rewards barcode within the app while at the register or drive-thru. Customers also can look forward to mobile ordering through the app, available in late 2017.

“Today’s digital world is all about efficiency and easy connectivity, and our mobile app is designed to make life a little more convenient for our customers. It also gives us a great opportunity to engage customers in a new, different way in an effort to provide the best service possible,” says Rob Rodriguez, SVP of Restaurants. “Most importantly, the Whataburger app allows us to show some love to our loyal fans with our new rewards program, and we think our customers will especially crave the chance to earn free food.”

The Whataburger app’s convenient mobile payment system allows users to upload a debit/credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Whataburger gift card to their account in any amount from $15 to $220. Customers with an account can reload funds when needed, manage their payment options and pay for their Whataburger order—all within the app.

Additional app features include quick access to Whataburger’s full menu along with nutrition and allergen information, a restaurant locator and guided tutorials. Users can sign up using Facebook, Google Plus or their email address. While registering to view the app isn’t required, some features are limited to registered users.

The Whataburger app is available for free on Google and Apple devices, and customers are encouraged to download the app on their smartphone through Apple's App Store or Google Play to begin receiving rewards for each visit. Users can visit Whataburger.com for tutorial videos on using the app, and assistance is available within the app by tapping on the Help icon in the My Dashboard section or by tapping More, then Help.
