White Castle, America’s first fast-food hamburger chain, is ready to celebrate the very sandwich it pioneered 98 years ago when the first Original Slider was served. In recognition of National Hamburger Month, the restaurant chain will be offering multiple opportunities throughout May for Cravers to receive free sliders and other steamy menu items. To kick off the month-long Craver-bration, White Castle is also launching the Capture the Crave Instagram contest, encouraging fans to share their best White Castle photo on Instagram for the chance to win a year’s supply of free sliders.
Beginning May 1, White Castle is calling for fans far and wide to capture their crave by sharing their best photo on Instagram. One lucky grand prize winner will slide his or her way into free sliders for a year and 15 more will receive prizes ranging from Visa® gift cards and White Castle coupons to bluetooth speakers, mobile phone camera lenses and more. Submissions must include #CaptureTheCrave, #Contest and @WhiteCastle to be considered and posts will be judged based on magnitude of the Crave, originality and quality of photography. Terms and conditions can be found at www.capturethecrave.com.
Also beginning May 1, White Castle encourages Cravers from all walks of life to sport their western apparel at the Castle every Wednesday to enjoy two free BBQ Original Sliders with any purchase. The new BBQ Original Sliders join a limited-time barbecue lineup that also includes the BBQ Brisket Slider and BBQ Impossible™ Slider. On May 15, Castles will also be giving away thousands of sliders and beverages in recognition of National Slider Day. Customers will have their choice of one free slider and one small Coca-Cola Freestyle soft drink with a coupon available online.
“At White Castle, we appreciate the hamburger today just as our predecessors did 98 years ago, for the enjoyment and memorable moments it provides for Cravers and taste buds everywhere,” said Jamie Richardson, vice president at White Castle. “National Hamburger Month and National Slider Day are both very special to us, and we’re proud to share the burgers that we’ve come to know and love with our fans every year.”
White Castle is also calling for entries into the 2019 class of its esteemed Cravers Hall of Fame beginning May 1. Fast-food’s most exclusive hall of fame was created in 2001 to recognize the most bold and loyal Cravers, and in 2002, the Craver in Extremis category was added to recognize celebrity Cravers like Alice Cooper, John Cho and Kal Penn and award-winning fashion designer Telfar Clemens.
“The Cravers Hall of Fame was created as an ode to the most passionate Cravers who have shared some of life’s most memorable moments and experiences with our brand and team members,” says Richardson. “Each year, we receive hundreds of heartwarming, hilarious and unforgettable stories and we’re excited for another chance to recognize our loyal customers.”
Also in time for the National Hamburger Month festivities, America’s two foremost slider experts are kicking off the White Castle USA Luge Slider Search, a grassroots off-season recruitment program developed in 1985 to discover future generations of USA Luge athletes, commonly referred to as “sliders.” The series of free clinics will kick off in White Castle’s hometown of Columbus on May 4 and 5 before taking off on a nationwide tour to introduce youth to the sport of luge.
