Zoup!, the fast casual restaurant known for its award-winning soups and made-to-order salads and sandwiches, is opening its first location in Maryland. The thriving chain has stirred up quite a following over the last 20 years, with almost 100 restaurants across the northern United States and Ontario, Canada. Now, Frederick residents will get to see (and taste) what the fuss is about when franchise owners Jeff and Lori Overstreet open the state’s first Zoup! location at 5597 Spectrum Drive in Frederick this fall.
The Overstreets, both corporate executives with experience in serving customers, were seeking to satisfy their entrepreneurial spirit by opening a business that offers a high-quality product and makes people feel good at the same time. “When we found Zoup!, we knew it was the right fit,” says Jeff. “Not only is Zoup! good for you, it makes you feel good too. That means every day is a good day for Zoup!”
The Overstreets have lived in neighboring Howard County for 16 years, raising two sons and falling in love with the nearby Frederick community. “Zoup! has been ladling love for customers across the country for over 20 years, and we’re excited to bring these award-winning soups to Frederick.” The Overstreets plan to open additional locations in the area over the next five years.
Zoup! in Frederick will employ around 20 people from the community. The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Zoup! features a wide variety of award-winning soups with 12 rotating daily varieties, including low-fat, low-cal, vegetarian, made with gluten-free ingredients and dairy-free options, all served with a hunk of freshly baked bread. Customer favorites include Chicken Potpie, Lobster Bisque and Vegetarian Split Pea, but guests are encouraged to find the soup that’s perfect for them by sampling before they order. The menu also features seasonal, made-to-order salads and sandwiches, and all menu items are available in convenient catering sizes for groups of 10 or more. Online ordering is also available.
