January is National Soup Month, and Zoup!, the fast-casual restaurant known for its award-winning soups, is marking the occasion with a month-long drive to help fight childhood hunger. Throughout January, Zoup! guests who donate $2 or more to No Kid Hungry, either online or in-store, will receive a coupon for a complimentary 8 oz. side of soup redeemable on their next visit.

The goal is to raise $100,000 for No Kid Hungry, a nonprofit that is ending child hunger by breaking down barriers and connecting children in need to programs that offer nutritious food, teaching low-income families how to prepare affordable healthy meals and educating the public about the nationwide child hunger crisis.

“One in six children in this country struggles with hunger,” says Eric Ersher, Zoup! founder and CEO. “Our franchisees and employees are 100 percent committed to supporting No Kid Hungry. We’re confident that as our customers stop in to enjoy tasty and filling soups like our Chicken Potpie and Lobster Bisque during National Soup Month, they will rally behind us to help end this problem.”

“No Kid Hungry is excited and proud to be partnering with Zoup! to combat childhood hunger,” says Diana Hovey, senior vice president at No Kid Hungry. “Everyone—private citizens, businesses, policymakers, and nonprofits—has a role in helping end childhood hunger in America. I also encourage guests to visit NoKidHungry.org to join this national movement to ensure that every child in America has access to the nutritious food they need, every day.”

In addition to its U.S. efforts on behalf of No Kid Hungry, Zoup! is also working with its Canadian restaurants to help raise awareness and funds during National Soup Month for Breakfast Club of Canada. Zoup! aims to raise $10,000 for the organization, which strives to provide all children an equal chance of success by starting the day with a healthy and nutritious breakfast.

Zoup! features an extensive collection of award-winning soup recipes and serves 12 rotating daily varieties, including soups that are low fat, enlightened (lower calorie), made with gluten-free ingredients, dairy free and vegetarian—all served with a hunk of freshly baked bread. Customer favorites include Chicken Potpie and Lobster Bisque, but guests are encouraged to sample each day’s options to find the soup that’s perfect for them. The menu also features made-to-order salads and sandwiches, and all menu items are available in convenient catering sizes for groups of 10 or more. A daily soup menu and online ordering are available, and guests can also sign up online to receive a daily email menu.
