Chick-fil-A is forging ahead with its New York City expansion, with three additional Manhattan locations slated for the coming months, as well as a store on Staten Island. The stores will open at 918 8th Avenue in Midtown, 700 6th Avenue in the Flatiron District, and 711 Lexington Avenue in Midtown East. The Staten Island restaurant is planned in the newly renovated food district inside Staten Island Mall.
So far, Chick-fil-A has already employed more than 650 people at its current five New York City outposts. With the additional expansion, the chain is looking at 500 more jobs when they open.
From 2 to 6 p.m. on August 1, Chick-fil-A is hosting a market-wide hiring day at 26 New York-area restaurants, including all of the New York City units. It will offer guaranteed open interviews in an effort to hire 250 new employees across the market. Anyone who arrives interested at a participating restaurant will be interviewed for a full- or part-time job on the spot.
Chick-fil-A said 12 of the 26 franchising owners participating in the hiring initiatives started as hourly team members themselves, showcasing the chain’s commitment to developing from within.
Each Chick-fil-A restaurant offers flexible hours, competitive pay and benefits, opportunities for leadership growth, college scholarships, and hands-on training and mentoring by the restaurant owner. In 2018 alone, New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Chick-fil-A restaurants awarded $235,000 in scholarships to 76 team members. Chick-fil-A was named a top 100 “Best Place to Work” by Glassdoor this past year.
“We are extremely excited to be hiring 250 Team Members at Tri-State Area Chick-fil-A restaurants in our mission to be the top employer in the industry,” said Michael Thornton, franchise Operator of Chick-fil-A Paramus Park Mall, in a release. “Chick-fil-A is the place for community-minded people who want a fulfilling job that goes beyond the walls of the restaurant. We invite anyone interested to come meet with us and interview for a position at their local Chick-fil-A restaurant. Everyone is welcome at Chick-fil-A.”
