Quiznos is looking ahead this year, and the company is seeing much to look forward to. “2015 is an important year for Quiznos,” says Ken Cutshaw, President of International, CDO and CLO at Quiznos. “After our corporate restructuring last year, we are working hard to improve the unit level economics to drive sales and profits for our stores. We have improved the economics of the distribution model for getting quality products to the stores, and we’re rolling out a new POS system later this year to further assist in driving profitability. We’re developing new, chef-inspired subs and menu offerings that our customers want.”
The company is looking to grow across the U.S. and Canada, with extra focus going to expanding opportunities in overseas markets this year. “Our international development is leading Quiznos growth with new and exciting markets worldwide, with several markets in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East opening last year and this upcoming year—like Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, and China—recently signing a record-breaking franchise opportunity for 1,500 units.” Cutshaw says. “We feel strongly that our international markets will succeed.”
To help drive this growth, Quiznos is looking for franchise candidates with business experience and a desire to make their mark on the world. “We are primarily searching for those who share our passion for great food and a superior customer experience, and especially entrepreneurs or empire builders who have a pulse on their markets and are looking to aggressively expand Quiznos in their communities today,” says Cutshaw.
New franchisees receive in-depth training on how to own and operate a Quiznos location. “Running your own business is about confidence, and while there are no certainties, we believe that one of the best ways is to be assertively ‘hands on’ and to really live the full experience,” Cutshaw says. “So it’s important to train our franchisees so they are knowledgeable in all aspects of operating their businesses. Our experienced team provides all the necessary training and support new franchise owners seek before opening the doors to their store.” Additionally, all franchisees can refer to a support center at the Quiznos headquarters in Denver, Colorado, or to field representatives in each market for assistance.
Quiznos is seeking a wide range of options when it comes to real estate for a new location, from in-line spaces for a traditional store to non-traditional venues in high-traffic areas like airports and colleges. Within 12 months of the execution of a franchise agreement, the new franchisee’s first store typically opens.
The future, however, is still unwritten for Quiznos. “We can hardly wait to talk about what’s next for our brand,” Cutshaw says. “Please stay tuned.”
