Color

The magazine is printed with 4-color process colors (CMYK). All advertisements (2-color and 4-color) must be submitted using process colors only (PMS colors should be broken down into 4-color process colors). Printing process: Web offset, perfect bound.

Resolution

QSR magazine is printed at a line screen of 150. All artwork should have resolution of 300 dpi or higher.

Digital Requirements

We’ve gone digital! Please submit your ad on disk. Format specifications are given below.

Be sure to include a contract color proof. With the digital production process it is very important that you inform us of what you intend for your ad to look like. Laser proofs are not acceptable. A color proof will be made at the advertiser’s expense if not supplied (up to $85.00).

Do not compress graphic files (ex.: LZW, JPEG). Compressed files can cause problems, when processing through prepress systems. If you must compress files so that they will fit on a transport disk, please inform us that you have done so.

Include all graphic files used in your document. Some programs allow you to embed graphic files within a document, such as Illustrator. Confirm that these images are included on the disk.

Send all fonts* used in your document, including fonts that may be embedded in an .eps file. Make sure to send both “sreen” and “printer” fonts when using Type 1 fonts. (*Please do not send PC fonts. Convert these fonts to outlines/paths).

All fonts sized 12 points or smaller should be 100% black—NOT built as 4-c black.

All artwork should be supplied in CMYK or Grayscale Mode. No RGB, Spot (solid PMS), or Duotone settings. Art supplied in these settings will have to be changed before it goes to press, and extra production charges will be billed to your account.

All colors used in your page layout software should be in CMYK mode, or specific Pantone ink colors, set for process printing. Do not use generic colors like green and red, or blue. These default colors in a layout program, such as QuarkXpress, are RGB defined, and not for 4-color process printing.

Label your document files clearly. Do not include other materials not related to this specific job.

Disks will be returned to advertisers/agencies who wish to get them back as long as we are provided with a clearly defined return address, such as a business card. Disks will be returned via U.S. Mail.

Macintosh

Macintosh materials may be submitted as QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat PDF or Photoshop documents. If using any other application, please save or export your document into one of these formats. We do not accept PageMaker, Microsoft, or InDesign files.

Provide a disk including all files, support graphics, fonts (screen and printer), and a contract color proof. Laser proofs are not acceptable. A color proof will be made at the advertiser’s expense if not supplied (up to $85). Linking files can either be EPS or TIFF format. No DCS files. All digital files should have a resolution of at least 300dpi. Allow 1/8 inch (.125″) bleed on all elements bleeding off the ad trim size. No LZW or JPEG compression.

PC

IBM and Windows compatible materials may only be submitted if the following requirements are met:

  • All type must be converted to outlines (paths).
  • Documents must be saved or exported to Adobe Illustrator, QuarkXpress, Acrobat PDF or Photoshop.

If using applications other than those listed above please save or export to one of these formats.
