ANAHEIM, Calif., April 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Carl’s Jr. has awarded 20 university-bound Latino high school students with $1,000 each through the Company’s La Estrella Latina de Carl’s Jr. Scholarship program.

“Carl’s Jr. is proud and very fortunate to be in a position to help support education and reward the efforts of the students within our community,” said Andrew Puzder, president and chief operating officer of CKE Restaurants, Inc. “We congratulate the scholarship recipients and wish them every success in college.”

The scholarship program, which is in its fourth year, honors Latino students who are selected based on academic merit, potential to succeed, educational and career goals and an essay about why he or she is a star in the community. Financial need and unusual personal or family circumstances also are taken into account. Recipients must reside in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside or Ventura counties.
