Mixed Restaurant, an emerging brand in the fast-casual segment, announced its Brookings, South Dakota, location opening in May near South Dakota State University. Sioux Falls–based Mixed currently has three locations with three more in development.
Mixed offers customers a unique dining experience while providing a quality, healthy, and affordable alternative to traditional fast food.
“At Mixed, our signature Omelet Breakfast Wrap is one of a kind. A customer can come in and enjoy a great breakfast, lunch, or dinner and choose from signature options or the build-your-own option. The options are endless,” says founder and president Cole Shawd. “If a customer wants extra fruit or double the grilled chicken on their grilled wrap, we can do that. If a customer wants all vegetables and low-cal dressing on their salad, we can do that too. We don’t sacrifice flavor with our menu, and with our chopping and mixing process, every bite packs great taste.”
The brand will be expanded in Brookings. This Mixed will offer some new features and services to its guests. One new feature is a drive thru.
“We want to offer our product in a quick serve atmosphere, and that’s what our guests expect. By adding the drive thru service we will be more convenient to our customers and their needs” Shawd says.
Another new feature unique to the Brookings Mixed is the addition of brewing Caribou Coffee. This menu will include mochas, lattes, iced coffees, smoothies, and more. This Mixed also will offer homemade bakery items. The restaurant will provide a modern, cozy environment for students, business people, families, or anyone that wants to meet to share a cup of coffee or a better-for-you-meal at any time of the day.
The Mixed location will be at 1805 6th Street and will be part of the Village Square Mall development.
“We are very excited to be part of the Brookings community. We have many current Brookings customers that visit our Sioux Falls location, so we are looking forward to bringing our concept to their back door. Our goal is to get involved and support the Brookings community, including the college,” says Kevin Plank, Mixed franchising sales and consultant.
Every Mixed operation is about offering a product and service that is not available elsewhere. “Our entire operation is unique because we create a complete experience that is customer focused. We have a unique branding and atmosphere,” Shawd says. “The ‘Mix’perience we create at our locations and our quality food have enabled us to appeal to a broad consumer base and turn our guests into enthusiasts that come back time and time again.”
Another very popular and conscious item under the Mixed umbrella is its eco-friendly operation. Every Mixed restaurant has to follow a 10 Point Green Standard system. Each location has signs within the restaurant explaining how they are going green.
Over the last twelve months Mixed has also opened locations in Omaha, Nebraska, and Rapid City, South Dakota. Three other stores in development this year are Brookings, South Dakota; Des Moines, Iowa; and a second Sioux Falls, South Dakota location.
Mixed was founded and created by Shawd in 2008 with its first location opening in 2010 on South Louise Avenue in Sioux Falls. Mixed is also currently seeking interested franchisees in South Dakota, North Dakota, Minnesota, Iowa, and other Midwestern states.
The opening date for Brookings is projected for May 2014. Exact opening date, menu and hours will be announced closer to opening.
