The Salvation Army announced that Rubio’s Coastal Grill is providing hot meals to those in need during the COVID-19 crisis. Approximately 100 meals will be distributed, three times a week. Rubio’s meals will be served to isolated seniors who rely on the Salvation Army for meals and fellowship.
“We’ve been part of the San Diego Community for 37 years,” says Rubio’s co-founder Ralph Rubio. “Giving back is part of our who we are at our core. Every meal we prepare right now helps keep our restaurants open to serve our community. In this time of uncertainty, it feels great for our team to do what we do best—serving healthy, delicious food.”
Rubio’s locations across California, Arizona and Nevada remain open for take-out and delivery, and guests are encouraged to order through the Rubio’s app and Rubios.com. While food safety and cleanliness have always been a top priority at Rubio’s, new initiatives in response to the COVID-19 crisis include face coverings, gloves for food handling, daily health screenings for team members, extensive and frequent sanitizing and disinfecting of restaurants, constant hand washing, implementation of social distancing protocols, tamper-proof seals on all delivery orders, and availability of contact-free curbside pickup and delivery.
