The minor league Class “A” affiliate of the New York Mets, the Brooklyn Cyclones, has reached an agreement with Nathan’s Famous making the world renown Nathan’s Famous hot dog the Official Hot Dog of the Cyclones.
Nathan’s Famous hot dogs will be available throughout the stadium as the Cyclones face off against Cleveland’s Mahoning Valley Scrappers in the season opener at KeySpan Park on June 25. The new ballpark is just steps away from the original Nathan’s Famous that was founded in 1916 at Surf and Stillwell Avenues in Coney Island and continues to flourish as a New York institution.
“Nathan’s Famous has been operating in Coney Island for over 85 years. Like the rest of the borough, we are thrilled that the Brooklyn Cyclones are bringing professional baseball back to Brooklyn,” said Wayne Norbitz, president and COO of Nathan’s Famous, Inc. “We are proud to be the Official Hot Dog of the Cyclones and we look forward to enhancing the Coney Island experience for the Cyclone’s many fans.”
“We are excited to restore this great sport to the borough of Brooklyn,” said Jeffrey S. Wilpon, Executive Vice President and COO of the Brooklyn Cyclones. “Both Nathan’s Famous and professional baseball have a long history in Brooklyn. Making Nathan’s Famous the Official Hot Dog of the Cyclones was a natural choice for us and for our fans.”
Fans of the Cyclones will enjoy Nathan’s Stadium Hot Dogs, which will be sold at concession stands throughout the stadium and by mobile vendors in the bleachers. Throughout the 38-game inaugural season, a Nathan’s Famous sign will grace the outfield wall of KeySpan Park and full-page Nathan’s advertisement will be featured in the Cyclone’s official program.
