Newk’s Eatery, the fast-casual restaurant known for its culinary-driven menu and open kitchen, is expanding into Virginia with the company’s latest development agreement to open 10 locations in Fairfax and Arlington counties over the next six years.
Red Alpha Holding LLC, a long-time successful Five Guys multi-unit operator with 10 years in restaurant development and management, will open its first Newk’s Eatery next year.
“Red Alpha Holding is based in northern Virginia and has the operational experience and commitment to excellence that makes them an ideal partner as we grow into this market,” says Chris Cheek, Newk’s CDO. “Virginia is an important bridge territory between our North Carolina and Maryland franchisees, and we are confident the Red Alpha team will successfully introduce our brand to diners here.”
Now in its 12th year of business, Newk’s serves made-from-scratch sandwiches, salads, soups, and artisan pizzas.
“Newk’s open kitchens, commitment to quality ingredients, and ongoing innovation make it a perfect option for northern Virginia’s discerning customer base,” says John Nguyen of Red Alpha Holding. “With aggressive expansion plans, a growing brand presence, and a new design, the chain is quickly becoming a sought-after brand for customers, franchisees, and landlords.”
Red Alpha Holding is the third multi-unit franchisee to sign with Newk’s in 2016. Combined, the new franchisees will open more than 30 new restaurants in the next four years, consistent with Newk’s goal to reach 200 units by 2019.
