The National Retail and Restaurant Defense Association (NRRDA) is pleased to invite current members, new members, and guests to attend its 2013 Annual Conference, held February 27 to March 1, at the JW Marriott New Orleans. This event will include various educational presentations as well as fun social and networking activities.
A variety of prominent speakers, including executives from Home Depot, McDonalds Corporation, Rite Aid, J.C. Penney Corporation, and US Foods, will conduct engaging discussions on pertinent issues within the retail and restaurant defense industries. Topics will range from witness preparedness, spoliation of evidence, and zealous representation to premise liability and self-insurance.
“With education being the primary focus this year, NRRDA has secured an unmatched speaker lineup of well-known industry professionals from across the country,” says Ian N. Matthes, president-elect of NRRDA.
A new seminar, “Jury Selection: Setting the Table at Trial,” has been added to the 2013 schedule. This presentation will describe how diverging from traditional jury selection methods can positively impact one’s case. Also, the always popular “4-Minute Offense & 4-Minute Defense” presentation by NFL referee Ed Hochuli will use a speedy and timed debate format to discuss social media, motion practice, judicial shortcomings, and more as it relates to the retail and restaurant defense industry.
The three-day conference will feature fun and exciting social events such as playing a round of golf at the award-winning TPC Louisiana golf course, which is home to the PGA Tour’s Zurich Classic and various other events, as well as a new member raffle and cocktail reception. Attendees will also be invited to a dinner outing at Mardi Gras World, one of the most unique attractions in New Orleans that allows visitors to get a behind-the-scenes glimpse at what it takes to pull off Mardi Gras each year.
“The lively atmosphere of New Orleans is the perfect setting for NRRDA’s 2013 Annual Conference and will be especially beneficial for new members and those considering joining as they will be able to further understand the association’s deep commitment to the defense of retail and restaurant professionals,” says Matthes.
Convention costs vary depending on the type of NRRDA membership held, and discounted, early registration fees are being offered on a tiered schedule.
