Rubio’s Fresh Mexican Grill has introduced a burrito meal deal, for a limited time, based on their popular HealthMex® menu that features items that are lower in fat. The combo includes a chicken burrito, a side of rice in place of chips, and a Diet Coke for $5.79. The Chicken Burrito contains 11 grams of fat, 9 grams of fiber, and is 520 calories per serving. The large burrito is made with char-grilled all white meat chicken, with fresh rice, freshly prepared black beans, Rubio’s signature roasted chipotle salsa, and salsa fresca, all wrapped in a warm whole wheat tortilla.
“Since the debut of our HealthMex menu in 1994, Rubio’s has been a leader in offering a variety of flavorful healthful options,” says Sheri Miksa, Rubio’s president and CEO. “The new HealthMex Chicken Burrito Meal Deal enables us to offer our guests a meal which is lower in fat, with sizeable portions at a great price, and the unique Baja-inspired flavor they expect from Rubio’s.”
Items on the HealthMex menu are prepared to have 20 percent or less of their calories from fat. Today, Rubio’s HealthMex menu includes a variety of items including: the HealthMex Chicken Salad made with their own signature fat free Serrano Grape dressing; HealthMex burritos and tacos made with char-grilled all white meat chicken; and a HealthMex Veggie Burrito made with freshly grilled vegetables. Rubio’s also introduced a Low Carb Chicken Salad in 2004, featuring only 7 net carbs.
