Scooter’s Coffee, one of the nation’s largest drive-thru specialty coffee companies, recently broke ground on its newest distribution center in Papillion, Neb. to support continued growth as the chain closes in on opening its 1,000th location.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held last week in partnership with ARCO National Construction and Scannell Properties. The 154,400-square-foot cold storage distribution center will include 93,520 square feet of warehouse space and 8,000 square feet of office space. The $40 million facility is designed for long-term performance, efficiency, and scalability, initially supporting more than 330 stores and scaling to support more than 700 stores.

“This new distribution center represents an important investment in the future of Scooter’s Coffee and our ability to support continued growth across the region,” said Nick Jarecke, Chief Supply Chain Officer of Scooter’s Coffee. “By strengthening our cold storage and distribution capabilities, we are better positioned to serve our franchisees, maintain product quality, and support the speed and consistency our customers expect.”

It will be the third such distribution center for Scooter’s Coffee in the greater Omaha area, its seventh nationwide, and the second largest in its Supply Chain network. The distribution center is expected to open in June 2027 with the first trucks making deliveries beginning in August 2027. Operations at the nearby La Vista, Neb. distribution center at 13564 Valley Ridge Drive, a much smaller 46,000-square-foot facility that first opened in 2022, will shift to this new facility.

Designed to support temperature-controlled storage and distribution, the facility will feature a 43,200-square-foot freezer capable of temperatures reaching -10°F, a 9,720-square-foot 36°F cold dock and refrigeration system, 20 loading dock positions, and a drive-in ramp.

This project builds on ARCO’s strong relationship with Scooter’s Coffee, developed over the past several years through successful project partnerships. ARCO’s partnership with Scannell Properties further strengthens the project team, reflecting a long-term relationship spanning more than 15 years.

“Our team is proud to partner on a facility that will play a key role in supporting Scooter’s Coffee’s growth and regional distribution network,” said Sam Stahnke, Vice President of ARCO National Construction’s Omaha division. “With our shared ties to Omaha, long-standing partnerships, and specialized cold storage expertise, this project reflects ARCO’s continued commitment to delivering high-quality, highly functional facilities for food and beverage clients.”
