Now through Oct. 8, buy a special Tour de BBQ pizza or a half carafe of Chianti Sangria at any SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza location, and 15 percent of the proceeds will go to the LIVESTRONG ARMY of Kansas City, Missouri. Funds will benefit the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the University of Kansas Cancer Center, which is seeking to become a designated national cancer center.
Available for a limited time, SPIN!’s hand-tossed, stone-fired Tour de BBQ pizza has Kansas City’s renowned Gates barbecue sauce topped with smoky roasted chicken sausage, four kinds of cheese, crisp sweet onions, and corn roasted in SPIN!’s signature stone ovens. It is perfect partnered with Chianti Sangria – a combination of Chianti, oranges, lemons, and some secret spirits, topped off with frozen sugared grapes and fresh apples.
In addition to donating 15 percent of the proceeds from each $11.95 pizza and $6.95 half carafe of Chianti Sangria, SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza served as a sponsor for the third Tour de BBQ bike ride. SPIN! also created a bike team specifically to participate in the fundraiser.
Members of Team SPIN! are frequent participants in free weekly community bike rides open to all ages and experience levels. The rides are sponsored by SPIN! at its Overland Park, Lee’s Summit, and Kansas City locations spring through fall. This year, more than 80 cyclists rode in the Tour de BBQ with Team SPIN!
The Tour de BBQ led participants on a “tour” of Kansas City barbeque restaurants, plus the SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza at 6541 W. 119thSt. in Overland Park, Kansas, where SPIN! supplied refreshments. SPIN! was the only Tour de BBQ rest stop that was not a barbecue restaurant.
Tour de BBQ pizza is available through Oct. 8 at the four SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza locations — 14230 W. 119thSt. in Olathe, Kansas; 1808 N.W. Chipman Rd. in Lee’s Summit, Missouri; 4950 Main in Kansas City, Missouri; and 6541 W. 119thSt. in Overland Park, Kansas.
SPIN! will open a fifth location in Lenexa, Kansas, in early 2012. SPIN! Neapolitan Pizza is owned and operated by Gail and Richard Lozoff and Edwin Brownell, who are experienced in large multi-unit expansion, franchising, and operations.
