After opening 40 franchise locations and signing 41 new franchise agreements in 2012, Tropical Smoothie Café is accelerating expansion in 2013 with plans to open 40 new cafés this year across the U.S.

The unrivaled brand position of “healthy food with a tropical twist” that Tropical Smoothie Café now firmly maintains has catapulted the company to become one of the fastest-growing concepts in its category.

With 336 locations, the brand has accrued a loyal fan following, many of who have become Tropical Smoothie Café franchisees.

Spurring the company’s growth is the 2012 acquisition by Atlanta-based BIP Opportunities Fund LP, which took a controlling interest in Tropical Smoothie Café. Since then, the national food and smoothie franchise has added considerable resources and put together a strong executive team to lead the brand.

Capitalizing on increasingly healthy eating trends in the marketplace, Tropical Smoothie Café is actively developing and rolling out new, healthy menu items to fulfill consumer demand.

Recent menu additions include grilled fish and chicken tacos, vegetable smoothies made with five servings of fruits and vegetables, and an entire “Feel Better Favorites” menu featuring healthy meal options, such as the Thai Chicken Salad and Baja Chicken Flatbread.
