Wingstop named franchise development veteran David Vernon its vice president of franchise sales to support the concept’s rapid expansion. In his role, Vernon will oversee the development team and national and international franchise growth plans.
Vernon brings more than 20 years of restaurant franchise development and sales experience to the position. He previously spent 13 years as vice president of sales at Sonic Corporation where he was part of a franchise sales team that grew the company from 1,550 drive-ins in 29 states to more than 3,500 drives-ins in 42 states.
“Wingstop has achieved more than seven years of same-store sales increases, that’s an impressive feat, especially in today’s economy,” Vernon says. “The position as vice president of franchise sales allows me to be on the ground floor of an organization that’s poised for growth and will double the number of stores in its system over the next several years. The company has unlimited potential for single and multiunit development.”
Prior to his roles at Wingstop and Sonic, Vernon held positions in franchise development for Brinker International, Pizza Inn Inc., USA Cafes, and Signature Foods.
Vernon is a graduate of the University of Kansas with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Journalism.
