Summerville residents have a new destination for fresh, made-to-order sandwiches as Penn Station Sandwiches celebrates the grand opening of its new restaurant at 460 Old Trolley Road in the Summerville Stop shopping center on Thursday, October 29, 2026.

The celebration will bring together community members and local leaders, including the mayor, police chief and fire chief, for a ribbon cutting and a day of grand opening festivities.

Adding some friendly competition to the celebration, Summerville police officers and firefighters will go head-to-head in a sandwich-making challenge to see which team can build Penn Station sandwiches the fastest. Turning bragging rights into support for the community, the winning team’s nonprofit cheer squad will receive the sandwiches made during the competition and a $500 donation, benefiting local organizations such as Meals on Wheels of Summerville and Dorchester Seniors.

Guests will have a chance to win big, too. Community members can get in line, beginning at 9 a.m. for a chance to win free Penn Station sandwiches for a year, giving local sandwich fans another reason to join the celebration.

The new Summerville restaurant is owned and operated by husband-and-wife franchisees Rhonda and Jimmie Graham, experienced multi-unit Penn Station operators who are bringing the brand to South Carolina as the next chapter in their longtime relationship with the company.

“We’ve built our business around Penn Station because we believe in the food, the people and the communities we serve,” said Rhonda Graham. “Starting this next chapter in Summerville is incredibly meaningful to our family. We’re excited to introduce our new neighbors to Penn Station, build a great local team and become part of this community for years to come.”

The Summerville restaurant marks the beginning of an ambitious new chapter for the Grahams. After years of operating Penn Station restaurants in Kentucky, the couple acquired 10 territories in South Carolina and relocated to the state to establish and grow the brand in a new market. Their sons are also joining the family business as they lay the groundwork for future expansion throughout the region.

“Rhonda and Jimmie embody the kind of leadership we value at Penn Station,” said Craig Dunaway, COO of Penn Station Sandwiches. “They lead by example, invest in their people and understand that strong operations go hand in hand with strong community relationships. That commitment has been key to their success, and we’re excited to see them bring that same approach to Summerville.”

The new restaurant, located about 25 miles from Charleston, gives Summerville its first taste of Penn Station’s recently expanded menu. Alongside the brand’s iconic cheesesteaks, fresh-cut fries and fresh-squeezed lemonade, guests can now choose from an expanded lineup of grilled and cold subs, handcrafted sandwiches, wraps and bowls, offering more ways to enjoy Penn Station for lunch, dinner and everything in between.
