KFC Menu Item Receives Top Spot
The survey, conducted by Schneider Associates, asked more than 1,000 consumers for their thoughts on the top new products. Garnering 24 percent of the vote, KFC Famous Bowls beat out heavy-hitting products from major brands, including last year's hottest gaming system launch and a competing quick-service restaurant unveiling. KFC Famous Bowls also took top honors in product awareness, with more than two-thirds of respondents registering the product's debut and availability.
"KFC Famous Bowls combine the best of our menu into portable comfort food, and it's gratifying to see that we've made such an impression on consumers with our layers of flavors," says James O'Reilly, chief marketing officer for KFC. "We're hoping to repeat this year's top ranking with another upcoming new product launch, which is an exciting twist on our Famous Bowls."
More than 81 million KFC Famous Bowls, which retail for $3.99 each at participating restaurants, have been sold since their release last year.
