85°C Bakery Cafe, the Taiwanese bakery-café brand known for fresh-baked breads and pastries, handcrafted beverages and signature cakes, will open its 100th U.S. location on September 18 at Parker Commons in Aurora, Colorado. The opening will also introduce the brand to Colorado for the first time.
85°C entered the U.S. market in 2008 and has grown through a differentiated bakery-café model spanning four core categories: breads and pastries, cakes, handcrafted coffee, and tea beverages. As 85°C reaches triple-digit locations and enters Colorado, the brand begins a new stage of growth and works toward 150 U.S. locations by 2030.
Cheng-Hsueh Wu founded 85°C Bakery Cafe in Taiwan in 2003 after visiting a café at a five-star hotel and questioning why high-quality pastries and beverages were priced beyond everyday reach. He envisioned a café offering premium coffee, bread and cake at approachable prices, a proposition that continues to guide the business more than two decades later.
“Reaching 100 locations in the U.S. is an important milestone for 85°C and a reflection of the communities that have embraced the brand since we first entered the U.S. market,” said Dave Lazaro, Marketing Director of 85°C Bakery Cafe. “Our goal has always been to deliver high-quality coffee, bread and cake at prices that make 85°C part of our guests’ everyday lives. As we continue to grow, we’re excited to introduce that experience to even more communities across the country.”
That combination of quality, variety and approachable pricing has helped 85°C establish a distinctive position within the U.S. bakery-café landscape. Each location features an in-shop bakery with more than 50 varieties of pastries baked fresh hourly, alongside handcrafted, made-to-order beverages and cakes created by the brand’s pastry teams.
The company has offered coffee, tea, milk tea and boba in the U.S. since opening its first American location, well before boba achieved its current mainstream popularity. Its beverage menu ranges from signatures such as Sea Salt Coffee and Sea Salt Jasmine Green Tea to matcha drinks, fruit smoothies and newer consumer favorites including Vietnamese Coffee.
Longtime 85°C menu favorites such as Milk Pudding Bread, Choco Bun, Marble Taro and the signature Egg Tart remain central to the brand’s bakery offering. Cakes including Mango Crème Brûlée and Deluxe Strawberry Cream Cake further demonstrate the breadth of its pastry program.
