John Young has been named Vice President of Technology and Transformation at Biscuitville Fresh Southern, a local family-owned restaurant widely known for its authentic, Southern cooking, that’s fresh, scratch-made and uses locally sourced ingredients.
Before joining Biscuitville, Young was global information officer for Static Control Components, a manufacturing company based in Sanford, North Carolina. From 2015 to early 2018, Young served as IT director for North America for Canadian-based Couche-Tard, a company that owns several international convenience store brands, including Circle K. Earlier in his career, Young also worked for Genworth Financial and Merrill Lynch.
“We are proud of our local, Southern heritage and take pride in sticking to our roots—including the Southern tradition of taking time to enjoy life. It’s an interesting balance to combine our ‘front porch’ heritage with the fast-paced culture in which we now live,” Biscuitville president Kathie Niven says. “We want to balance our commitment to Southern hospitality while offering the convenience guests need. We chose John Young because he has the experience and leadership to balance both. We are grateful to have John on our team and look forward to wowing guests with the convenience his team will bring them.”
A native of Richmond, Virginia, Young lives in Apex, North Carolina with his wife, Malesa and two daughters. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps where he worked with HAWK surface-to-air missile systems. After his military service, Young earned his BA in historic preservation from Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia in 2000. Upon graduation, he participated in archeological digs in both Virginia and on Tortola in the British Virgin Islands.
