Tony Conza, CEO and founder of Blimpie International, Inc. (Amex: BLM), the world’s largest publicly-held sandwich franchisor, has penned a book entitled “Success… It’s a Beautiful Thing.” “Success” is the tale of how a typical kid from Hoboken, NJ learned about business by pursuing his own ambitions.
Through his work ethic, Conza has established a global brand with over 2,000 locations.
The book retails for $24.95 and is available at most bookstores and from online booksellers. All of Conza’s profits from “Success… It’s a Beautiful Thing” will be donated to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the national charitable organization Blimpie and its franchisees support with year-round activities.
Loaded with the wisdom Conza has accumulated through decades of building a globally recognized brand, “Success” takes a no-nonsense approach to the art of business and offers practical advice. Included are guidelines on how to become a successful entrepreneur, simple steps to success, tips to help prepare for opportunity, reasons people and businesses fail, how to use communication to improve relationships, and how to take control of life and enjoy it more. One quote from the book reads “Opportunity comes along every day. The problem is that it’s often brilliantly disguised as a crisis, a roadblock, or an impossible situation”.
When Tony Conza and two high school friends dreamed up the sandwich concept that would become Blimpie Subs & Salads, Tony wasn’t looking for a get-rich-quick scheme. “I was hoping to lay down a solid foundation on which the business could thrive and grow with the understanding that as an individual, I would prosper as well,” Conza said. “I didn’t have a college degree, but I was excited by the possibility of running my own business. I was willing to jump right in and learn as I went along.”
Conza maintains that his desire to learn and grow were what motivated him most in his quest to establish and expand his business presence. Blimpie Subs & Salads has become an example of small-business success and a reminder that the American dream is one that can truly be fulfilled.
