Founded by Chef-Owner/Chopped Champion Kiersten Gormeley & sister/COO Krista in 2016, Hoboken’s Shaka Kitchen was the country’s first fast-casual poke & acai bowl restaurant; a second Hoboken store debuted in 2018.
Shaka Kitchen promotes healthy eating with their menu of delicious, colorful, freshly prepared dishes, full of natural flavor: Land & Sea Bowls (poke), Earth Bowls (acai/pitaya), Smoothies, Tacos, sides and baked goods.
The sisters announced the opening of their long-awaited third location at 62 South Street in the heart of downtown Morristown.

Mindfully crafted and Chef-driven, the beauty of Shaka Kitchen’s menu is the simple, house-made preparation of whole foods that meet multiple dietary needs of their customers. Every recipe is developed by Chef Kiersten with thought, effort and love, and everything is house made, refraining from adding sugar or soy, and using organic ingredients wherever possible.
Shaka Tacos
The Shaka hand gesture, symbolizing the “aloha spirit” of reverence, solidarity, compassion and friendship is part of the logo, and is embodied in the Shaka Kitchen culture. Their mantra is manifested throughout the menu: Eat Well. Feel Well. Be Well.
In the Land & Sea Bowls, meats are locally sourced, grass-fed, preservative-free and contain no hormones; seafood comes only from Peter’s Fish Market and Fulton Fish Market. The Kalua pulled pork in the Loco Moco is prepared with Hawaiian pink sea salt, slow roasted and smoked in the oven 5-6 hours, wrapped in banana leaves and finished with house-made sauce.
Shrimp is prepared in a special gluten-free batter and fried for their Buffalo Tacos or Lava Rock Shrimp Tacos; chicken is simply grilled; in Earth Bowls, jackfruit or cauliflower are used to create the hearty vegetarian/vegan main dishes.

Shaka Kitchen incorporates organic items wherever possible, from organic vegetables and fruits in the Earth Bowls, and frozen organic fruit that make Smoothies more flavorful, and purposeful, for detox, immune defense or even clean complexion! Delicious, wholesome catering is always available for businesses or private events.
