Island Burgers & Shakes, the popular 15-year-old burger restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen, has signed a lease for its second Manhattan location at 422 Amsterdam Avenue, between 80th and 81st Streets on the Upper West Side.

Island Burgers & Shakes will occupy 700 square feet of ground-floor space, as well as a 500 square-foot basement, when it opens later this year.

“Char-broiled, steakhouse-style burgers, decadent milkshakes, and an incredible selection of toppings is what has made Hell's Kitchen's Island Burgers & Shakes famous and successful for the last 15 years,” says Mark Calvino, founding member/owner of Island Burgers & Shakes.

The restaurant offers an extensive menu of 64 different hand-formed burgers and chicken churascos, along with 24 craft beers and a selection of milkshakes. “By the end of spring, denizens of the Upper West Side will share the unique quality of tastes experienced by thousands of satisfied New Yorkers, as well as travelers from all parts of the globe,” Calvino says.

“Island Burgers & Shakes waited a long time to find the right market for their second store,” says Alex Hill, the Winick Realty Group broker who represented the restaurant in this 10-year lease transaction. Hill brokered the deal directly with ownership, 420-428 Amsterdam LLC. “This is a prime Upper West Side restaurant block, with neighbors including Jake’s Dilemma and Brother Jimmy’s, and Island Burgers & Shakes will make a great addition to the neighborhood.”
