Panda Express announced that is offering its Chinese New Year Learn with Me Program free of charge to all elementary schools across the nation. The child-friendly, interactive curriculum is designed to help educators teach the cultural significance of Chinese New Year, which in 2010 will mark the Year of the Tiger from February 14 to February 28.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community with the Learn with Me program,” says Peggy Cherng, co-chair of Panda Express. “During this time when many schools are facing cutbacks, we are especially happy to provide a free, quality educational program that teachers may utilize and students may enjoy.”

In its fourth year, the Learn with Me Program targets second to fourth graders and is estimated to serve over 100,000 students across the country. Each kit includes a Panda Express’ Year of the Tiger DVD, Year of the Tiger Fact Sheet, Jade Emperor’s Interactive Game and Activity Sheet, Lai See Activity Sheet, and 35 bookmarks with Free Kids Meal coupon. Educators can sign up for the free kits online until December 8. The program can be taught from February 5 to March 1, 2010, to correlate with the Chinese New Year Holiday.

According to the Chinese lunar calendar, the first moon signals the beginning of Chinese New Year.
