In commemoration of Black History Month 2000, McDonald’s will launch an exciting sweepstakes where families can experience the thrill of an African photo safari, the breathtaking wildlife of the Aberdares Country Club and the lushness of the Motherland.

Beginning Friday, February 25th, McDonald’s will present the Passport to Kenya Sweepstakes, a nationwide event celebrating McDonald’s year-long focus on African-American heritage and culture.

In April, McDonald’s will award five Grand Prize excursions for families of four to the Mara Safari Club-Kenya, where they will experience the sights, sounds and cultures of Kenya. In addition to the Grand Prize giveaways, consumers will have the opportunity to experience Africa on-line by winning one of ten Gateway Astro computers, and 500 Microsoft Encarta Africana Multi-media Encyclopedia CD-ROM’s in the sweepstakes.

“Through our Passport to Kenya Sweepstakes and various other programs, we plan to celebrate African-Americans achievements not only during Black History Month, but throughout the year,” said Brenda Turner, director, McDonald’s U.S. Marketing.

Entry forms for the McDonald’s Passport to Kenya Sweepstakes will be available at participating McDonald’s restaurants and www.mcdonalds.com. Deadline for entries is Thursday, March 23, 2000. The grand prize sweepstakes drawing will be held Monday, April 3, 2000.
