Sailormen Inc. and Popeyes Fight Muscular Disease

Sailormen Inc., Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, and the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) announced today that the 2013 “Appetite for a Cure” program and the Sailormen Inc., Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Golf Classic have raised more than $670,000 to help support those affected by neuromuscular disease.

 

This year's Appetite for a Cure program ran from January 28 through March 17 at participating Popeyes restaurants in south Florida and across the southeast. The program raised more than $503,000 through the sale of $1 coupon cards worth $30 to be used toward free and discounted purchases during future visits.

 

Additionally, more than 40 companies sponsored the ninth annual Sailormen Inc., Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen Golf Classic, a premier golf event, held May 9 in Miami Lakes, Florida, that raised more than $167,000. The tournament was hosted by former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL player Gino Torretta.

"It's important to us to go above and beyond to help families living with muscle disease in our community and support important MDA programs, like MDA summer camp.
