The SUBWAY® restaurant chain today announced the appointment of Dr. Steven Safier as senior vice president and chief administrative officer of the SUBWAY® Franchisee Advertising Fund Trust (SFAFT), which creates advertising and marketing programs that are designed to build sales and promote the image of the restaurant chain.

Safier has extensive experience working with boards, top executives, employees, and owners handling organization and operational issues in a broad range of industries. At SUBWAY®, Safier will be responsible for Finance, Purchasing, Human Resources, Information Technology, Governance, Legal and Board Elections and Process. Safier will also be a key contributor to helping the SUBWAY® Restaurants’ families work together in the best service of the franchisees.

“Steve’s wealth of experience in organizational transformation will be a huge asset to SFAFT as we continue the process of building the best marketing organization in our industry,” says Tom Seddon, chief executive officer and executive director of SFAFT.

Safier was retained as a consultant by the SFAFT Board of Trustees in December 2003 to conduct an organization assessment and help position SFAFT for international growth, increased profitability and enhanced franchisee service. In this capacity he worked closely with the Board and with Tom Seddon.

“The time I’ve spent already working with SFAFT has shown me the power of the brand, the commitment of the people and the tremendous opportunity for growth,” he says. “I am excited to now be a part of this organization ‘from the inside’ and look forward to contributing to franchisees’ success.”

Safier was formerly a partner in the HayGroup, a global management consulting firm, where he served as a consultant for 18 years. At HayGroup, he helped companies in many different industries develop capability to support growing and changing business needs.

He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Touro College in New York City, a Master of Arts in Psychology from the University of Connecticut and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the University of Connecticut.
