Wienerschnitzel announced the return of its hot dog mascot, known as “The Delicious One” a.k.a. “TDO,” to the forefront of the company’s marketing campaign.  TDO first made his debut in 1999 and was last featured in 2008. Due to popular demand from fans and franchisees alike, TDO is making a huge comeback as the face of the brand in 2014.

The 2014 campaign, dubbed “The Delicious One,” includes a series of 30-second television commercials featuring a cartoon-animated TDO and catchy jingles reminiscent of the early 1960s, when the company was founded. The mascot’s new look and original jingles will be seen and heard throughout the brand’s marketing campaign, which includes radio, digital, and print advertising, and social media, in addition to new packaging, crew uniforms, and in-store signage.

“We wanted to find a fun way to bring back our much-loved mascot while still paying tribute to the brand’s rich 1960s heritage that we’re so proud of,” says Tom Amberger, VP of marketing for Wienerschnitzel. “Our goal is to transport guests back in time with a campaign that resonates with our longtime customers while also appealing to our newer hot dog–loving fans. We are all excited to be working with TDO again!”

To achieve TDO’s new look, Wienerschnitzel and their advertising agency, DGWB, turned to Renegade Animation, an industry leader in cross-platform digital animation known for producing humorous, personality-based character animations, and superior graphic design work.

Wienerschnitzel’s newest commercials can be viewed on the brand’s YouTube.
