Newk’s Eatery announced a multi-unit partnership to expand growth in Northeast Georgia, bringing its state presence to 17 restaurants total over the next two years. Currently, two upcoming openings are planned for the Athens area, growing Newk’s national footprint to over 120 restaurants total.

“We’re thrilled to begin serving the Athens community as we continue expansion in Georgia,” says Chris Cheek, chief development officer at Newk’s Eatery. “We’re excited to be partnering with restaurateur David Weeks to grow our presence in Northeast Georgia, as he is an established member of the Athens community with over 15 years of multi-brand franchising experience.”

Restaurateur David Weeks began his extensive franchising portfolio in 2003 with Barberitos. Currently, Weeks operates 12 multi-brand locations in and around Athens. In November of 2017, Weeks signed on with Newk’s Eatery and made plans to continue his growth in Athens with one new area location this year and another in 2020.

“In researching the next brand to add to my franchising portfolio, I look for companies who innovate,” adds Weeks. “I appreciate the forward-thinking Newk’s provides for its operators, as well as in menu development. It’s a company that is truly leading the fast casual industry, also proving extensive experience with many multi-concept franchise operators. I’m thrilled to bring this unique concept to Athens and look forward to welcoming the community into the Newk’s family.”
