In response to increased demand for planet-friendly dining options and delicious burgers that satisfy any palate, Celebrity Chef Spike Mendelsohn and his team at PLNT Burger are continuing the company’s rapid expansion. With the opening of its eighth restaurant in Jenkintown, PA,  PLNT Burger is proving why it’s an “explosive” concept as described in QSR’s 2021 top 40/40 list of America’s Hottest Startup Fast Casuals.

“When we opened in Wynnewood, PA, last July, the community responded with immense support for our menu offerings and, frankly, got behind our mission to eat the change we want to see in the world,” says Top Chef veteran Spike Mendelsohn. “We are thrilled to bring great burgers, fries and shakes and lot’s of new, innovative plant-based menu items to Jenkintown.”

The new location, the second in Pennsylvania, officially opens on May 14 inside the Whole Foods Market at 1575 The Fairway, Jenkintown, PA. Dining options include outdoor patio seating, as well as delivery and take-out through PLNT Burger’s website and app. The company, which recently changed the pronunciation of its name to “Planet Burger,” is planning to add additional locations this year both inside Whole Foods as well as outside of Whole Foods.

“With the recent Epicurious announcement to no longer include beef in new recipes, to the decision by NYC top restaurant Eleven Madison Park to drop all animal products from its menu, the trend towards planet-friendly eating is accelerating. “We are proud to be a part of that,” says Seth Goldman, activist entrepreneur and PLNT Burger co-founder. “The positive feedback we’ve received at our Wynnewood store, and the confidence we have in our regional team, are the impetus for our expansion in the Philly market.”

Focusing on opportunities for growth, PLNT Burger also recently named Ben Kaplan as the company’s first CEO. As a co-founder, Kaplan has been taking a lead role in managing the company.  “I am honored to be part of the growing team at PLNT Burger,” says Kaplan. “Since founding PLNT Burger, our vision has been to create the best burgers on the planet and for the planet. By creating delicious food that will satisfy even the most discerning carnivores, we are changing the way people eat their veggies. And we’re helping people reduce their carbon footprint and improve their health one bite at a time.”
