Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, will open at 1025 South Main Street in West Bend, Wisconsin, on Wednesday, May 19.

Franchise owners Haydyn Straus and Holley Hood will hold three fundraisers as part of their grand opening celebration:

Wednesday, May 19 to Sunday, May 23 to support Badger Middle School

Wednesday, May 26 to Sunday, May 30 to support West Bend West High School

Wednesday, June 2 to Sunday, June 6 to support West Bend East High School

Customers with a special fundraising coupon can make a minimum $2 contribution to the schools in exchange for a regular sub. Customers must have a coupon to be eligible.

Straus and Hood, who live on the north side of Milwaukee, are the first participants in Jersey Mike’s Coach Rod Smith Ownership Program, which helps top managers in the system obtain their own restaurant. Jersey Mike’s provides mentoring and financial assistance to make their dream a reality.

“Opening our first store feels amazing,” says Straus. “We know our future is bright because of what Jersey Mike’s and Peter [Cancro] have done for us.”

The program is named for Rod Smith, a former football coach of Founder Peter Cancro. Smith helped 17-year-old Cancro obtain a $125,000 loan to buy a single sub shop at the Jersey Shore. Today, Jersey Mike’s has more than 2,500 locations open and in development in 49 states.

Hood started working with Jersey Mike’s in 2016. She then trained Straus when he joined two years later. They both quickly moved up within the company. Most recently, they have been working regionally to gain more experience on the big picture of running a store.

“We chose West Bend because it is a small town that will appreciate not only a great sub but the giving aspect that Jersey Mike’s brings to the community,” says Hood. “We have been getting a great response from the community already with many walking in to ask when we are opening and tell us the town is very excited for Jersey Mike’s.”

Based on guidance from the CDC and public health authorities, to start, Jersey Mike’s dining room will be open at a reduced capacity with socially distant tables inside.

Guests can place takeout orders in-store or for pickup through the website or through the Jersey Mike’s app. Additionally, delivery is available in most areas through the Jersey Mike’s app or through third-party delivery partners. Curbside pickup is available for orders placed in Jersey Mike’s app.

The health and well-being of Jersey Mike’s guests and operators are its highest priorities, and locations continue to prepare, serve and package Jersey Mike’s subs with all the precautionary measures in place to protect its customers and its teams.

The restaurant’s hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this location directly at 262-353-3332.

Jersey Mike’s believes that making a sub sandwich and making a difference can be one and the same. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised more than $65 million for local charities. In 2021, the company’s 11th Annual Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving in March raised over $15 million for more than 200 charities nationwide.
