American Express and Share Our Strength announced “Dine for a Cause,” an initiative to support Share Our Strength’s No Kid Hungry campaign to end childhood hunger in America. Through January 31, 2014, American Express Card Members can do their part to help ensure that all children have the healthy food they need, every day. Card members can register eligible American Express cards online, and then each time they use their registered card at an American Express card–accepting restaurant, American Express will donate $1 each time they dine, up to $1 million, to No Kid Hungry.
For every $1 donated, No Kid Hungry can help provide up to 10 healthy meals to children in need. Through “Dine for a Cause,” American Express will have the potential to give children access to up to 10 million meals.
“American Express is empowering its card members to take action and encouraging our restaurant merchants to spread the word about this initiative,” says Ramón Martín, president of Merchant Services Americas for American Express. “Together, if we ‘Dine for a Cause,’ we can provide millions of children with a nutritious meal this holiday season and beyond.”
“We are passionate about ending childhood hunger in America and we’re proud to support American Express and Share Our Strength in ‘Dine for a Cause,” says Danny Meyer, New York City restaurateur, CEO of Union Square Hospitality Group, and board member of Share Our Strength.
“We are thrilled to partner with American Express in welcoming card members to support No Kid Hungry,” says Billy Shore, founder and CEO of Share Our Strength. “One in five children in America struggles with hunger, but American Express card members can help us get one step closer to making no kid hungry a reality.”
