PURE Bioscience, Inc., creator of the patented silver dihydrogen citrate antimicrobial, announced Tuesday that Chipotle Mexican Grill, Inc. has adopted PURE Hard Surface disinfectant as a food safety solution to eliminate and prevent Norovirus and other viruses and bacteria in all 2,100-plus of its store locations nationwide.

Chipotle recently began promoting “Our Food Safety Advancements” and its eight-step food safety program in the media.

Chipotle’s website details the “Food Safety Advancements” it has implemented to ensure that its fresh ingredients are as safe as possible. While it does not identify specific product names, the following statement from its website refers to Chipotle’s adoption and use of PURE Hard Surface: “We have adopted the use of a natural disinfectant that virtually eliminates harmful bacteria and viruses from the restaurant environment.” This is part of Chipotle’s ‘state of the art sanitation procedures,’ as described on its website.

Chipotle’s commitment to become a leader in food safety, and implement the industry’s premier systems, is being led by Dr. James L. Marsden, Ph.D., executive director of Food Safety at Chipotle. Marsden is one of the nation’s foremost authorities on food safety.

Chipotle adopted PURE Hard Surface disinfectant in part because of its unique, non-toxic SDC-based solution providing superior efficacy in eliminating and preventing Norovirus and other pathogens. PURE Hard Surface disinfectant is being used by Chipotle on surfaces that come in contact with food in both the front and back of the restaurant, as well as other areas susceptible to contamination by bacteria and viruses.
